Medium: Sculptural Weaving

Workshop Title: Playful Storytelling

Approach sculpture as a storyteller, through which you weave multiple components to be integrated into a narrative. The workshop will introduce basic basket weaving techniques. You will learn multiple ways of starting a piece and how to integrate solid objects. Emphasis is on play and a willingness to take risks with materials and the outcome. Open to all.

About The Instructor

Nathalie Miebach

Nathalie Miebach explores scientific data related to meteorology, ecology, and oceanography, which she translates into woven sculptures, musical scores, and installations. Central to this work is the role visual aesthetics play in the translation and understanding of scientific phenomena such as climate change and the complicated human responses it evokes. She is the recipient of numerous awards and residencies. Her work has been shown around the world.
