Studio Assistant
Stipend: Free room and board
Studio Assistants are responsible for assisting the instructor, including studio set up the day before the workshop begins, and are expected to be familiar with the general technical requirements of their particular studio. Studio Assistants are also workshop participants and will have ample time for personal work. Studio Assistants pay full tuition but receive free room and board.
GOALS
1. To provide faculty with a capable assistant
2. To provide North Country Studio Workshops with a communication link to the workshop
BENEFIT
Successful applicants will receive free room and board ($645 value).
DUTIES
1. Attend an online orientation meeting hosted by NCSW in early January 2025. Date and time TBD.
2. Communicate with faculty and pre-workshop volunteer liaison prior to the workshop as needed.
3. Arrive Monday January 27, 2025 (the day before the Workshops start) by 12 PM to coordinate the workshop set-up.
4. Help faculty settle into dorm.
5. Act as primary liaison between faculty and North Country Studio Workshops.
6. Attend a short daily meeting for infomation and updates.
7. Make class announcements and explain/clarify workshop materials fees.
8. Organize and supervise studio clean-up Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning.
9. Remain one hour after lunch on Sunday to assist with general break down.
SELECTION CRITERIA
1. Must be a team player, willing and able to help where needed.
2. Must have experience in the workshop medium.
3. Prior experience as a Studio Assistant is helpful.
4. Prior attendance at North Country Studio Workshops is helpful.
5. Personal recommendation.
PROCESS This is a two-part process.
1. In order to apply for a NCSW Studio Assistantship, applicants must first register for a workshop online and must pay both the $150 tuition deposit and the $60 non-refundable processing fee (total amount due is $210). See the 2025 North Country Studio Workshop registration page for details.
2. The NCSW Studio Assistant Application must be submitted along with the requested materials via Google Forms link.
Studio assistant applications are due on Thursday, August 15, 2024 by 11:59pm EDT. Applicants will be notified of their status on or before Monday, September 16, 2024.
